Medical Condition/Reason for Assistance: Diabetes / Right Lower Leg Amputation

Description:

TAN WOOI MIN was suffered a severe infection in his right lower leg due to complications from diabetes, resulting in the amputation of his leg to save his life. Following the surgery, he lost his ability to work and was left without a source of income. With no other options available, he was forced to seek public assistance.

TAN WOOI MIN (52 years old) is from Butterworth. About a year ago, he noticed that a wound on his body was taking an unusually long time to heal. He sought medical treatment at a hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with diabetes. He subsequently began medication to keep his condition under control.

However, in April this year, he accidentally injured his right lower leg while walking. The wound bled heavily, and he was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment. Further examination revealed that the wound had developed a serious bacterial infection due to complications from diabetes. To prevent the infection from worsening and spreading, doctors had no choice but to amputate his right lower leg.

He currently lives with his 49-year-old unmarried younger brother. Their parents have both passed away. Before the amputation, he worked as a warehouse administrator. Since undergoing the surgery, he has been unable to return to work and has lost his only source of income.

The Qi Li Xiang Charity has decided to allocate RM1000 as medical assistance fund to reduce the burden of patient.
